When Anxiety Attacks Strike Dont Push The Panic Button - Push Panic Away

Thursday, January 31st, 2008

By Robert Byrnes The big meeting with your boss is scheduled for tomorrow morning; youve finished writing the controversial proposal concerning the companys next major project; and youre feeling good that your visual aids are complete and professional looking. As you relax and settle back to contemplate the fruits of your labor, youoh, no, not now the racing of your heart, the trembling, the numbness, the chest pain - the dreaded panic attack! Its overtaking you and those unsettling background thoughts are overpowering your mind; your stress and anxiety levels have reached their max; and youre convinced that this time you are actually having a stroke or heart attack. Thats basically how a panic attack is described in most of the programs dealing with panic attacks. This familiar scenario is repeating itself all too often with individuals, perhaps yourself: whose normal activities are being unnecessarily restricted by the serious effects of the panic attacks; who are living in fear of your whole world collapsing and you want to know why; wondering what the solution could be, yet striving just to cope with the panic; and those wanting to be completely free of the phobia, anxiety and panic problem. Hopefully, this article will help you realize that panic attacks are serious but they are not the end of the world, and by introducing you to the information from alternative programs dealing with these attacks, including the Joe Barry Panic Away course, it will give you hope that you can, not just manage the problem, but eliminate it entirely. In personal interviews with victims of panic attacks, it is overwhelming to realize how many areas of their lives have been restricted or entirely shut down due to the panic attack effects. The litany includes, to name just a few, such common activities as: developing and sustaining normal relationships without anxiety; afraid of driving, flying or other forms of transportation; unable to plan social activities or holidays; making appointments and abruptly having to leave due to fear and anxiety; avoiding activities they used to enjoy, such as skiing, taking a walk, dancing, etc.; fearful of being left at home alone; experiencing feelings and thoughts of impending doom and of disconnected reality, even entertaining thoughts that they may be going crazy. These individuals are desperately seeking to understand why all of this is happening and where is the help they need to resume their normal activities and have a life again. According to reports and testimonies from individuals who have suffered from phobias, fears, and anxieties, there are people who have struggled for as many as thirty years or more with these panic attacks, and they want to know the cause and a cure. Studies have revealed that there is really no clear cause for these attacks although stress, biological factors and heredity are believed to contribute to them. Some researchers relate these panic attacks to the natural instinct of our minds and bodies to deal with conflict either by fight or flight. When faced with impending danger, our bodies naturally respond with a fight rush of adrenaline in order to protect us. With a panic attack, that same rush sensation is experienced even though theres just the thought or fear of danger rather than the real thing. As a comfort to victims of panic attacks, most alternative treatment courses emphasize that an ongoing panic attack is not necessarily harmful and that the fear is actually fueled by overreaction to your bodily sensations. Please dont misunderstand, this fear is very real to those dealing with panic attack and the solution calls for more than just urging them to pull yourself up by your bootstraps, just bite the bullet and DO it! Looking for help can be confusing because there are so many different avenues of help being offered. Many suggest you look to a hypno-therapist or your doctor for an individualized course of medication and therapy. The critics of the medication approach assert that medicines mask the root of the panic attack and at best offer temporary relief, can become addictive, and draw your attention to the disclaimers the side affects of the medicines. Others will direct you to the Natural remedies that are available. Some panic attack programs advertise to help minimize the symptoms and give some relief while others offer to help you cope with the panic attacks. Most of these programs operate from the standpoint of cognitive behavior approaches - positive affirmation and/or deep breathing techniques, sufficient rest and exercises However, in contrast to all the above, such alternative programs as the Panic Away program and perhaps others, advertise they can eliminate panic attacks by getting to the root of the problem. They believe that individuals prone to panic attacks get caught up in a cycle of anxiety and fear, so they base their treatment on the premise that the anticipation of a panic attack actually triggers the cycle of fear and anxiety. Therefore, the assertion is that the principle element is to learn to break the fear that you are going to have another attack. Also, by understanding what charges and keeps recharging a panic attack, that reoccurring charge can be eliminated along with the panic attacks! As we have stated, our desire has been to offer hope and encouragement to those suffering from the tragic effects of panic attacks by whetting your appetite for more research and information concerning these alternative programs as well as the other available programs for handling these fears, phobias and anxiety disorders; to help bring to your attention any limitations you may be placing on your ability to overcome these attacks; and to encourage you to step out, do it right, and take back everything you had before the panic attacks took over your life. If you are just interested in the subject or especially if you are a victim of Panic Anxiety Attacks you need to learn more about Panic Away; so please don’t wait any longer-go right on over and visit http://panicaway-reviewed.com a website which reviews the Panic Away product and presents the viewers with valuable information, advice and resources on the subject of anxiety, fears, phobias and the panic away one product. Choosing Wedding Flowers By Meaning

Thursday, January 31st, 2008

By Yolanda Nash Flowers carry their own set of visual enhancements, fragrances, and colors, which are known to completely set the mood for any wedding. For many, the selection of flowers for a wedding are decided upon due to the look they display and how well they situate into the plans already set by bride and groom. Perhaps, the chosen bloom holds significant meaning to the couple or simply possess a “pretty” look. As you scan the selections of flowers that may fit into your wedding theme and dcor, why not take the time to learn about the meaning behind these attractive accompaniments? You never know when you may choose your wedding flowers or bouquet according to what they stand for. Carnations Carnations possess a history that is deeply filled with meaning, as it serves as one of the oldest cultivated flowers in the world. The ruffled appearance and extended blooming shelf life makes the carnation an attractive selection for wedding flowers. A bouquet of carnations holds the meaning of fascination, distinction, love, and is also associated with purity and luck. Irises The history of the iris can be traced back to Greek mythology and although they are often highlighted for their deep blue color, they also provide a wide range of additional shades. The overall meaning behind irises involves wisdom, courage, hope, and faith. Different shades of irises signify additional meanings, such as the yellow variety, which stands for passion. Sunflowers Sunflowers are often known for their boldness, energy, and bright colors, and are sometimes overlooked as a wedding flower because of its size. While some enjoy the attention-getting quality that this bloom possesses, there is no denying that sunflowers are one of the most “happiest looking” of flowers. The meaning behind this particular bloom includes loyalty and longevity, which makes perfect sense for the exchange of vows. Orchids The elegance of orchids makes this bloom a popular choice in wedding flowers as their grace and beauty are often sought-after. The exotic nature of the orchid is also a crowd pleaser, as it portrays the meaning of being special and showcases the bride as a rare and delicate beauty. Peruvian Lilies Various colors are showcased in the Peruvian lily, which is known for its flirtatious appearance and demeanor. This particular bloom can be found in vibrant shades of yellow, pink, and orange. While the main meaning behind the bloom is friendship and devotion, they also highlight playfulness and serve as a popular attention-getter. Stargazer Lilies When choosing Stargazer lilies, you will highlight a sense of youthfulness and beauty, as these fragrant blooms showcase wealth, prosperity, and purity. Tulips It is said that this highly historic flower is one that allows couples to truly express a “perfect love.” Red tulips signify “true love,” while the purple variety adds a hint of regality. Yellow tulips are known to express cheerfulness and happiness. Gerbera Daisies Gerbera daisies are one of the most popular flowers in the world, which portrays innocence, cheerfulness, and purity. A host of colors are also associated with this type of daisy, including bright pink, white, brilliant yellows, and ruby red. Yolanda is the owner of Yolandas Wedding Favors. The Two Most Desired Traits In A Mate - This Will Blow Your Pants Off (Pt. 2)

Wednesday, January 30th, 2008

By Christine Akiteng In Pt. 1 of this article I broke down the trait of kindness for you. The second most desired trait is intelligence. This is where it gets really, really interesting. When it comes to choosing mates for long term relationships we are smarter than we even know. We chose mates based on 8 types of intelligence, not just the one or two IQ tests measure. Here are those 8 types of intelligence: 1. Interpersonal Intelligence (People Smarts): the ability to understand other peoples intentions, motivations and desires. We are attracted to people smarts people because they relate well, have many friends and are cooperative. They are also sensitive to our feelings, fears, moods, temperament, motivations and intentions. They are genuinely empathic, and genuinely concerned about what is happening to us moment by moment. 2. Linguistic Intelligence (Word Smarts): the capacity to use language to express what’s on your mind. Human courtship is largely through the use of words and people who are good at thinking in words and using language to express and appreciate lifes beauty and complexes are very attractive because they excite, please, convince and stimulate us by the way they use words to convey information. 3. Musical Intelligence (Rhythm Smarts): the capacity to think and communicate using rhythm. This is what I like to call the Elvis Presley Phenomenon. Men and women with this trait have the unusual ability to make the rest of us feel what they feel, become one with them, and together with them. Their song becomes my/our song because we feel connected to them in a deeper and more primal way. We even want to take on their identity - amazing! And to think I always wanted to be Michael Jackson - before the plastic surgery! 4. Bodily/Kinesthetic Intelligence (Body Smarts): the capacity to use your whole body as intelligent communicator of ideas, emotions, desires etc. Were attracted to people with this trait because body smart people are body expressive, they have good timing, coordination and reflexes, they like physical contact and are very responsive, they have exceptional control of their bodies and as a result excellent in using their bodies in the bedroom - or where ever you prefer to do it.. 5. Mathematical Intelligence (Logic Smarts): the capacity to understand the relationship between cause and effect and manipulate numbers, quantities, and operations. We attracted to people with this intelligence because of their ability to think and reason deductively and inductively. They are usually organized good planners and most of us enjoy some level of certainty. They are also good at handling and managing money and financial investments. 6. Naturalist Intelligence (Jungle Smarts): sensitivity, respect and understanding of the delicate balance and deep relationship between the nature within and the nature outside (other creatures and features of the natural world). Although we’ve come along from the jungle days our Psychological brains are still programmed to be attracted to people who can effectively deal with their surroundings. People who are savvy about their environment make us feel safe and happy” because we know we can always count on them to introduce us to the mysteries and wonders (nice restaurant, discount store, important people and connections etc) and protect us from physical harm. 7. Intrapersonal Intelligence (Self Smarts): having an understanding of yourself; knowing who you are, what you can do, what you want to do, how you react to things, which things to avoid, and which things to gravitate toward. We are drawn to people who have a good understanding of themselves because they tend to know what they can and can’t do, and to know where to go if they need help. They can be relied on to take care of us when we can’t take care of ourselves. 8. Existential Intelligence ( Life Smarts ): the ability to be sensitive to, and have the capacity to pose and ponder larger questions such as the meaning of life, why are we born, why are some people evil, why do we die, what is consciousness, or how did we get here etc. We are attracted to people with this intelligence because they are fully aware and appreciative of the world we live in - its diversity, complexity, and wonder. And if we are open to it, they take us to places that our fearful minds are usually afraid to go. Come to think about it. It seems to me that were not that very different from our ancestors because survival selection still shapes how we chose a mate and who we find attractive. If youve been focusing your energies elsewhere like in pick-up lines, tricks and techniques, you are riding in the wrong banana boat. Why not just focus on developing the traits of kindness and intelligence and let survival selection take its course? My interest is in - how we can take advantage of this knowledge so that when a man or woman comes looking we will be chosen as the desired mate. How can we best position ourselves so that his or her survival instinct radar zooms on us- Zap! You are the one I want! I have a few ideas on my website on how this is possible. This is a quest, one which I intend on taking all the way back to discovering every little secret our ancestors used to attract more mates and higher quality mates. Ill share with you what I find out. Scottish Wedding Invitations

Tuesday, January 29th, 2008

By Grant Lindsay Scottish wedding invitations have long been popular with couples who are of Scottish heritage but their popularity is growing worldwide. There is something mystical about the Scottish highlands and Celtic symbols that attract admirers from all over the globe. Many couples are now deciding to have a Scottish theme to their wedding, even if they are not getting married in Scotland, and Scottish wedding invitations are an essential part of the special occasion. Everyone can now add that touch of Celtic tradition by sending Scottish wedding invitations. There is no set format for a Scottish wedding invitation but there are some traditional aspects that you can incorporate to add that authentic feel. The most obvious of these is Scottish tartan. Each Scottish clan, or family, has their own unique tartan design associated with them and no Scottish wedding invitation would be complete without a piece of this Scottish heritage. On a modern style of Scottish wedding invitation, you could have a family crest emblazoned on each card, with a bow made from the family tartan. However, if you really want to create a special Scottish wedding invitation then why not have scroll-style invitations, tied with your clans tartan? The choice is endless and there are numerous options to include tartan on a Scottish wedding invitation. A border designed using the tartan can add a stylish and personalized feel to your Scottish wedding invitations. Of course, tartan is not the only traditionally Scottish article that can be added to a Scottish wedding invitation. There are several other items that are associated with Scotland that would be perfect adornments for any Scottish wedding invitation. The thistle, for example, is the national flower of Scotland and is often seen emblazoned on crests and flags. The cross of St Andrew, with the white cross on a blue background, is well-known as the national flag of Scotland and can often provide the inspiration for the colours of your Scottish wedding invitation if you are undecided. It is worth researching some of the other Scottish wedding traditions before deciding on the final design and content of your Scottish wedding invitations. Any wedding invitation is intended to give the guests a feel for what type of event the big day is going to be. Perhaps you want to include some Gaelic script, or incorporate the Celtic knots into the perfect Scottish wedding invitation. You may also want to continue the style of your Scottish wedding invitation into the Order of Service for the ceremony itself, menus and place cards for the reception or even thank you cards for your guests. The internet is a great place to start if you are looking for inspiration to create your perfect Scottish wedding invitation. Free Drug Samples in Texas A Bad Idea?

Sunday, January 27th, 2008

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Patt_Carpenter] Patt Carpenter “Free” is a great thing. It costs you nothing if you get something for free, right? Or does it? It the world of medicine, drug company sales reps in Dallas, Houston and elsewhere in Texas try keep sample cabinets in healthcare providers’ offices well stocked with the latest medications for doctors to give out when needed. Most individuals like going home with free samples because it saves them a trip to the drugstore, plus their co-pay, if they have one. And MDs are happy to pass them out because samples often help patients get immediately started with a treatment. But several leading medical centers are now restricting the use of samples. In addition, a small group of doctors are shutting down their sample cabinets. They say that medical professionals should be selecting the most appropriate medication for a patient based on the best scientific evidence available, not just grabbing something from the sample cabinet that might fit the bill. The doctor will say, Here, start on this, and lets see how it works, said David J. Rothman, president of the Institute on Medicine as a Profession, a research group at Columbia. The question to the doctor is: If you didnt have it in your drawer, would that have been your drug of choice? The free samples crackdown is due in part to the growing concern about the close ties between physicians and drug companies. Rothman says that physicians dont realize the extent to which their medical judgment is influenced by their acceptance of the samples. He pointed to recent studies finding that the number of doctors who treated high blood pressure with the first line drugs recommended by national guidelines was low, but increased sharply when free samples were removed. Currently, the University of Michigan Health System has completely banned free samples, and the University of Pennsylvania and Stanford University medical schools have prohibited staff members from accepting them, although samples can be given to Stanfords pharmacy for use in free clinics. A number of medical groups and practitioners have also changed their policies. Dr. Jonathan Mohrer, an internist in Forest Hills, Queens (NY), said he closed his sample cabinet in part because his office was overrun with pharmaceutical sales reps. It was totally spinning out of control, Dr. Mohrer said. They were meeting each other and schmoozing in the waiting room it was like a party. Mohrer’s staff spent a portion of their time arranging the cabinet, throwing out expired medications and trying to locate the right drug. Patients were kept waiting while sales representatives were ushered in. And yet, some medical professionals say theres an upside to the passing out of free samples. Using samples, a doctor can see if a patient can tolerate a new medication before the patient buys a 30-day supply. Physicians who treat low-income individuals like to have samples for them, as well as for uninsured patients. Samples also provide patients with the convenience of one-stop shopping. If a patient has waited some time to see a doctor and rearranged their whole working schedule, it may be another four or five days before they can fill a prescription. Some doctors feel that for individuals who are busy, working people, with family responsibilities, there shouldnt be any further delay. In addition, many MDs say they like using samples because the sales reps are an important source of medical education, keeping doctors current regarding the latest drug therapies. The drugs promoted through free samples have a tendency to be newer medications that doctors are less familiar with, some experts report. Critics of samples say they prefer using older drugs, because the side effects are already known. They also say that helping poor and uninsured patients is not the intent of the sample distribution. Critics feel that Medicares prescription-drug coverage, the proliferation of generic drugs and improvements in drug company patient-assistance programs have all made access to medication much easier these days. It’s also not at all clear whether or not samples save patients money. Critics say samples may actually drive up the cost of health care in the long term, because the drugs being promoted are the most expensive, brand-name types. And, since many medical conditions require lifelong treatment, the patient would have to purchase the drugs sooner or later. Free drugs from your doctor may or may not be the best thing for your health or bank account. Precedent puts a new spin on health insurance. Financial Blunders to Avoid

Friday, January 25th, 2008

By Kristi Feathers If you have bad credit you may be very vulnerable to fall prey to these scams and blunders. They focus on the credit-needy and come at you at the worst time- when you are in a bind to rebuild credit or trying to get a loan. Before you sign documents out of desperation know a few key warning signs. While you may be thinking that you are a very sensible person that would never fall prey to such scams, you can be dead wrong. The credit scams are organized in such a way that even the most financial savvy person can fall into the traps of greed and urgency. Credit Restoration companies: These companies will promise to correct your credit for a fee. You think they can do things for you that are only known to the insiders of the industry. Not true. They are no more privy to credit secrets than you. Simply put, there are reputable sources and scammers. Scammers will promise you a new identity and claims of perfect credit within 6 months. They claim to be able to remove bankruptcies, charge offs, collection accounts and more. The truth of it is, they can do nothing more than you could do given you had the right tools which is nothing more than the law and education. On the other hand reputable sources can be used as a credit tool. Reputable companies will not tote miracles. By researching laws, arguing over inaccurate credit reports and negotiating with creditors, you can improve your credit legally and ethically. Reputable credit repair agencies are rare in deed. You will not find droves of really reputable credit restoration companies because the reputable ones dont operate solely as credit restoration. Usually they consist of financial planners, mortgage brokers and credit officers who, over the course of years in the field, have mastered how to effectively improve credit. Its not that they have special access to any miracle cure, they are simply in the business and know how the industry operates and can help you achieve maximum results is rebuilding your credit. Credit rebuilding takes time. You will not wake up tomorrow with perfect credit. It will take months of disputations, negotiations and proper use of new and established credit to see real changes that are positive. Credit Restoration software: You see the ads and think it must be some special top-secret credit repair software that will magically wipe away all of your bad credit. The companies tote that its Amazing, Never before seen and you are “so lucky to have found it”. Wrong! credit restoration software is nothing more than an electronic book of tips and tricks. Some offer legal solutions while others offer to teach you how to obtain false identities or new credit files. The Internet is a breading ground for these scams, taking millions of consumers for huge amounts of money every day. What you will find once you purchase the software is usually nothing more than a few pages explaining how to apply for new credit or so-called Build your credit fast scams all to coerce you into spending more. There are some really good resources but many are books written by attorneys or credit specialists who know what you need to do in realistic terms to properly increase your credit score and build good credit. Divorce Decrees: If you are unfortunate enough to suffer through a terrible divorce then dont make it worse by thinking the spouse is liable to pay certain debts. Many people think a divorce decree overrules a written contract. It does not. A divorce decree is simply what the judge has found fair for both parties to pay. It does not cover default. If you default on your debts thinking you can get out of them because the judge awarded the other party liable, you are wrong. Should those debts go delinquent, all parties who signed them or lived in a joint property state will be liable for debts incurred during the marriage. Cosigning loans: How many times have you cosigned a loan for one of your children? Probably at least once, as many parents have. This is O.K. if you implicitly trust your child and have the money to pay it in case they cant, but if you know little about your responsibilities as a cosigner then think before you sign. First off, your credit will be affected if the payments are late. The credit history is reported on the cosigners credit reports and can be calculated into your debt ratio when you apply for a loan later. You could be denied if your debt ratio is high because of co signed loans that you really are not paying. It doesnt matter if you pay it or not, the liability is there for payment so it is included in your debt ratio. Your kids or brother may have the best intentions for paying the loan back but just know what you are putting at risk by signing that loan document. Your Credit! Advanced fee loans: These can be very sneaky to reveal as scams because many appear to operate as lending institutions. Advance fee loans are pure and simple: Fees paid before the loan. That means the scam artist or so called broker will charge you in advance to find you loans. They soon disappear with your money. Always check these so called advanced fee loan brokers out through your local consumer agency before you pay a penny. Payday loans: Payday loans are another trap. Simply put: If you do not have the money now, what makes you think you can pay back an advanced loan with fees in a week or two out of your paycheck? This is a bad cycle to get into and the industry makes millions off of desperate consumers. Credit Card Insurance: This is one of the biggest wastes of money. The fact is only a small handful of people will use this Insurance but the fees you pay out for it can really add up. They promise to pay your credit card payments should you become disabled or unemployed. That may be fine if you think that is a real threat in your life but on the average, the industry cranks in millions and most consumers never use the insurance. In addition they reap the fees and if you are disabled or unemployed the insurance simply pays off their investmentYour Debt! So who is the real winner here? The insurance company ad the creditors. The other bad part of this offer is that they add it onto your credit card bill usually monthly or quarterly. That can add up because you are already paying interest on your debt, now you will be adding interest to your credit card insurance. Doesnt sound like such a great deal anymore does it? Extended Warranties: This is another offer that literally bilks millions each year. Most of the major appliance stores and computer stores offer it with the tag line, of Never pay for repairs and again the odds of you using this out ways the justification of the fees. Extended warranties, promise for a fee to cover any mechanical failures should your regular warranty expire. How many times have you actually had a computer or refrigerator die the day the warranty expires? Rarely, most mechanical breakdowns will happen while the original warranty is valid. You are literally throwing your money away by signing up for these extended warranties. Unless the actual purchase is so grand that it warrants the additional coverage dont do it. Credit Card or fraud protection: This is one of the biggest rip offs today. Companies will convince you that you need fraud insurance to protect you in case your credit card is ever lost or stolen. This way, you pay nothing for the charges. Hello! Theres a law that says you are not liable anyway unless you were actually involved in the fraud or did not act responsibly in preventing it. Even then you usually only pay the first $50.00 in damages as a deductible. No person can legally be held liable for credit card fraud. The Fair Billing Act, Truth In Lending Act and other various consumer protection laws protect you. This coverage is a HUGE waste of money. Loan Agreement Extensions or Skip-a-pay plans: Again, these are just well hidden ways to get you to pay more. Say you have an auto loan with your credit union or bank or even a credit card. The bank offers to do you a huge favor by letting you skip a payment during the holidays or if you are low on cash one month. What you are really getting is 30 to 60 days of unpaid interest added to your debt, which in the long run will add more to what you owe and take you longer to pay off. Solution? Dont do it. You can come up with the money each month as you always have if you curb spending and pay your bills out of a well-defined budget. Living on borrowed money does nothing for you. Robbing Peter to pay Paul: This may not be a scam but its a very bad habit. If you cant pay the debts you have right now what makes you think that taking out another credit card debt to payoff an existing credit card debt is any better? Many people do this or use the card for monthly living expenses. Very bad move. If you use the cards to pay living expenses then obviously you wont be able to pay back the loan much less your rent the next month along with your new credit card debt. Transfer balances only if doing so is going to reduce your interest rate or because you are going to consolidate two cards into one for a lower payment. Getting Pre-approvals in the mail: How many times have you filled out those little pre-approval cards that come in the mail and guarantee you a credit card? What you are really getting is a guaranteed offer to apply based on your credit. It does not mean you were approved it just means you pre-qualified for overall credit worthiness based on a prescreening that creditors do using the credit bureaus. Most of the time, you are denied after and stuck with yet another credit lowering inquiry. Dont fill these out unless you really think you qualify and need it. No one needs 100 open accounts anyway. Use your head. If you have bad credit and get an American Express offer, do you really think you will get it? Loan Sharks: These so called agents or brokers offer you loans at exorbitant fees, which can be usury. They charge you enormous fees to lend you money when no one else will. Think before you do it or you could be paying up to 51% interest to some crook. Try other methods like family or friends with an interest rate acceptable to both of you. Cross Collateral Clauses: Again, while certainly not illegal, many people have no idea what they are really agreeing to by signing loan documents with a cross collateral clause. Credit Unions and Banks insert this little clause as a way to secure your signature loans or credit card debt to an existing auto or home loan. Why are these so bad? Because if you ever get to a point that you can no longer pay your debts and decide to file bankruptcy but keep your car or house, that little clause will give the creditor the right to consider that debt secured and refuse it to be discharged in your bankruptcy unless you return the car or house too! Can you imagine having 2 or 3 credit card debts with your credit union for 15,000.00 and thinking you have freed yourself from them only to find after you have filed BK that the debts are not dischargeable! Not only do you now have a BK on your credit reports, you still owe a massive portion of debt that you thought was unsecured! Read before you sign! A cross collateral clause should be very obvious in your documents and many states require that you initial next to it to insure compliance. PMI or forced auto insurance: This is a real rip off but completely legal. If you have an automobile financed, do not skip on your insurance. The bank has every right to force on car insurance at extortion rates! The amount is added onto your car loan and you end up financing extremely expensive auto insurance plus interest from the loan. What this means is the loan you thought you had for 48 months has now gone to 58 months with a larger payment and all with interest too! The same insurance you may pay 53.00 a month for through a private broker is now 283.00 per month for less coverage! And its legal! Never EVER lapse on car insurance while a bank holds the title. The other bad part of not keeping the loan insured is that the bank reserves the right to repossess the car for what is called inadequate protection. Just avoid this at all costs. Additionally, if your asset exceeds the cost of loan then you can refuse to insure the vehicle. Example: Car is worth 34,000,00 and you are only borrowing 10,000.00. You should not have to insure the car-based on the value. Signing At Will Employment Applications: If you interview for a job and sign the employment application, be sure to read the language in the contract. If it states At Will, as many do then you may have waived your rights to secure your position. At will means the company can fire you on the spot without reason. There is little you can do about it if you signed the original employment application that warned you about At Will. If you see that in your contract, ask questions and try to get a waiver. If the company thinks you are worth it or has been bidding for you then chances are they will waive it. Mail order: This one is so obvious to many but others fall victim every day. Ordering by mail by using a select offer from the mail order company. They offer you a credit line of $1,000.00 to buy anything you want and you think it’s either a credit card that you can use anywhere or you think its a credit builder. It is usually nothing more than a high interest rate to buy poorly made products through a catalog. You end up paying 180.00 for a 29.00 comforter. Not a good deal at all. Avoid these unless you shop from your favorite catalog using your own preferred credit card. Prepayment penalties: While not illegal this is a costly mistake. Before you sign on the dotted line for your new mortgage, read the terms carefully! Many companies in an effort to lock you in will have a huge prepayment penalty of up to 5,000.00 if you refinance the loan early. A very well known bank does this as part of their standard business so that clients cant refinance a year later when the rates go down. Also be very careful with ARM (Adjustable Rate mortgages) You may get in with a 5.9% credit builder rate but may try to get out at 11%. Read the contracts. Right of privacy: Have you ever received all those offers in the mail and keep wondering how the heck you got on the advertisement list? Well, the credit bureaus can sell your information to potential lenders as a form of marketing. Unless you specifically ask to opt out then you can literally be placed on thousands of lists. How do you avoid this? First off, when you buy products. Make sure you check the box that says you do NOT want your information sold. Secondly, look at the companys privacy polices. Finally, contact the credit bureaus and ask to be removed from future offers. If a telemarketer calls you after you have told them not to, they can be fined 200.00 per incident. Learn more about Opt-Out procedures and the benefits. Collection fees: Before you sign for a loan, read the contract for the collection fees. Many states will have a stipulation in the contract that they can charge you extra for future collection expenses or for retaining an attorney. Argue this before you sign, as collection fees are a cost of doing business and you should not sign a contract that states otherwise. In addition some states dont allow the collection fees unless the debt has gone to judgment, then the collection fees are justified. If you dont catch it, who will? Certainly not the lender. Credit card late fees & over limit fees: Every year the credit card industry collects millions in late fees. While this may be perfectly justifiable in most cases it is not justifiable when the following applies. Say your credit card company reduces your line of credit down because you became delinquent. However they reduced it below what your balance is. Now every month, you are being charged late fees and over limit fees for a limit that is not actually your original limit, so in essence the credit card company has gone over the limit not you. Quickly dispute this if it has happened to you. If the credit card company is so worried about your delinquency then simply have them block the card from future use or request that you return the card. Demand that the late fees and over limit fees be reversed. Millions of Americans have paid unjustifiable late fees and over limit fees. Assigning a power of attorney: Many people will assign a power of attorney to a financial planner or relative without fully understanding what it means. If you do sign a power of attorney then be sure to have a good attorney review the language. You may just be signing over your entire fortune to a scammer. Some brokers convince clients to sign a power of attorney and then Willy Nelly them right out of their savings. Be cautious and careful when assigning power of attorneys. The Oohs and Ahhs Factor

Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008

By Bonnie Ray Second only to watching the bride come down the aisle is the delightful treat of watching the flower girl or girls precede her. These adorable additions to the wedding party, along with the ring bearer decked out in his tiny tux, are something that we all look forward to seeing at each wedding that we attend. Most little girls love to dress up and the thought of dressing like a princess will thrill your flower girl. She will most likely relish the idea that shes an important part of your big day! While you want to emphasize the importance of her role, make sure you dont do it in a way that will make her nervous and unable to perform her duties when the day arrives. This should be a fun day for her, but she still needs to know that her role is vital. Spending some additional time with her at the rehearsal should be good enough to ensure a successful walk down the aisle. Flower girls can proceed down the aisle before the maid-of-honor or immediately in front of the bride herself. Occasionally a flower girl will be accompanied by the ring bearer and they will make an adorable couple as them march to the front where the groom awaits his bride. The childrens parents should be seated near the front, just in case one of the little ones decides he or she doesnt want to stand up there for very long. One way to ease the worry of your flower girl(s) is to have her attend your shower and your bridesmaids luncheon. Once she gets to know the other attendants, shell be more apt to relax and feel confident when its her turn to head down the aisle. Of course, this isnt an issue if she already knows the bridesmaids because everyone is related. What exactly do you want your flower girl(s) to be doing when shes walking down the aisle? Traditionally, she should scatter rose petals for the bride to walk upon. This is symbolic as a token of beauty. It is also thought to symbolize the bride walking down the path of a new life. Some facilities will not allow the scattering of rose petals. If this is the case, there are other options available. One is to have your flower girl(s) drop silk rose petals in the aisle. They can be so realistic looking, that no one will realize that theyre silk. The flower girl basket can be filled with silk rose petals, or it can simply be a basket of flowers that she carries. Another trend that is gaining in popularity is the pomander, a cylinder covered in flowers that is carried almost like a handbag. In the case where the facility wont allow any petals, fresh or otherwise, to be dropped in the aisle, having this young attendant carry a pomander or a flower girl basket with an arrangement in it will still draw the oohs and ahhs! Make sure you check with the facility where the ceremony will take place as to whether or not the scattering of petals is allowed. Then you can go ahead and order your flower girl basket and get on with your other plans. Bonnie Goodwin Ray has more than sixteen years experience in the wedding industry. She is the author of Wedding Planning Made Easier and has become a leading expert in silk wedding bouquets design. Love is About Learning (Sometimes the Hard Way)

Monday, January 21st, 2008

By Michelle L. Casto How many people do you know who feel alone and lost without a romantic partner? They sit around waiting for Mr. or Mrs. Right to come knocking on their door, without doing much to prepare themselves for the special gift of love. If this sounds like you—- it is time to Get Smart! We seem quite inept in choosing life partners. One only has to take a look at the current divorce rate to see that we have not developed effective decision making skills when selecting mates. This is not only due to a general lack of education on the subject, but also because of the lack of selection criteria and the habit of making premature romantic decisions. However, lives and families do not have to be broken. All that is needed is enough people making smarter decisions. Is this wishful thinking? Not really, because as we move towards the new age, more people want to make better decisions and live a higher quality life. The societal pressures to have someone are pervasive. We are inundated with images and messages that life is just not complete until you find that someone special, which leads us to ponder what to do in the meantime? Liz Smith once said, Love is the outreach towards self completion. As you are more able to love yourself and others, the more complete you will feel. If you want more love in your life, be more loving. Share more of yourself with the people already in your life. The law of attraction says that like attracts like, then it follows that love attracts love. Why not improve your own life -polish yourself so that you shine and sparkle?I once read a card that said The arithmetic of love is unique. Two halves do not make a whole. Two wholes make a whole. In the meantime, you can be working on making yourself to become the best you can be. By working on your own issues and becoming the kind of person you seek, you set the stage for meeting that special someone. And when love comes into your life, you will then be ready and willing to experience it on a higher level. Things to Know About Modern LoveIts been said that love makes you blind and can often trick you into thinking that you really have love. All too often, the illusion of romantic love leads people down roads that turn out to be wrong turns or dead-ends. How can you spot the difference? By tuning into what your intuition is telling you.Finding real love means learning from your past mistakes and requires that you develop an open mind and heart, patience, and a willingness to let go of worn out belief systems and limiting thought patterns. It also requires setting aside your ego, and letting your soul be your guide. If you have been lead astray time and time again, you are most likely allowing your ego to make your love decisions. If you consistently rely on a lack of sense, clarity, and vision of what you desire, you will miss your mark every time. If you want to find real love, you must look at what needs to change (within you), visualize the kind of love you desire, and then consciously work on creating it.Our way of living has evolved dramatically, yet our way of loving seems to be stuck in the romantic era. Many people still believe in the knight in shining arm concept of love, which is completely misleading to millions of people. If you too would like to find ultimate love, you must learn to love in a more modern, equal, and enlightened way. Another key aspect in finding real love is an awareness of what you think about love. Do you perceive love as choice or chance? Do you believe that you deserve to have love? Or do you believe that love is only for the lucky ones? Indeed, you may need to clear some mental programming in order to find the kind of love you are seeking. There is a saying in the Unity church that thoughts held in mind reproduce in their kind. So just by thinking that you are worthy and deserving of real love can help bring it into your life. Thinking about love also involves knowing it when you see it, so developing your own definition will enable you to recognize love when it magically appears. Romantics will not like reading this, but love is a practical matter. There are only a few people on this earth who will fall in love at first sight and live out the rest of their lives together as a couple. For the rest of us, we need something more to go on than pure destiny and hope. The Get Smart! approach is about learning to utilize your decision-making skills and to spot trouble ahead of time, long before you find yourself in an unhealthy relationship. Smart people know that giving yourself away too soon can deplete you of your ability to love in the highest way. Being smart means saving yourself for the right person and then experiencing the romance that develops naturally. In my book, Get Smart! About Modern Romantic Relationships, I discuss the process of making good decisions, defining love, developing a vision of the ideal relationship, the difference between soul mates and life mates, the 7 stages of a romantic relationship, and how to apply a modern approach to love. The book implies that love is somewhat of a learned skill. Truly there is no better training ground than LOVE. And if you are ready and willing to bring about some changes in your love life, then buy my book (or any other solid self-help book) and Get Smart! Michelle L.
